Train operator Lumo has partnered with the Glasgow International Comedy Festival to provide customers with a unique opportunity to win tickets to this year’s festival.
Kate Hammer, who is performing at the festival this year, joined a Lumo service between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street to host a special moving quiz show with Lumo passengers.
Lumo is a supporter of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival which officially begins this week with shows from comedians including Rosie O’Donnell, Sue Perkins and Alan Davies.
Glasgow was added to Lumo’s popular East Coast Main Line route at the end of 2025, offering a sustainable way to travel to the city with 100% electric trains. Travelling with Lumo is affordable too, with tickets starting from an astonishing £41.90 between London and Glasgow or £14.90 between Newcastle and Glasgow.
Jen Clare, Service Delivery Director at Lumo, said: “Celebrating Glasgow’s thriving cultural scene is something that we’re passionate about and the Glasgow International Comedy Festival is a prime example of why people visit this amazing city. Thank you to Kate for giving us all a good laugh onboard as we celebrate the start of this year’s festival. We look forward to welcoming those travelling to watch the variety of shows on offer this year.”
Michael Bochel, Head of Marketing and Sponsorship at Glasgow International Comedy Festival, said: "We've loved working with Lumo and the fantastic Kate Hammer to spread the word about the start of GICF - putting on a comedy quiz show during a train journey was certainly a first for us, but it was a real hit with customers and a great way to kick off the festival.
"We're grateful to Lumo for their support this year in helping us show that Glasgow truly is the funniest city in the world. We've got some brilliant shows across the next three weeks, with comedy for all fans and ages, so don't miss out - get your tickets before they go!"
Kate Hammer said: "Telling jokes on a train has been on my bucket list for years, and I was ecstatic to finally make this dream a reality - and in such comfort and style! I love the GICF, so it was an honour to spread the word and the laughs, and let more people know about the newest way to get to Glasgow and join in on the fun!"
Lumo is also preparing to launch a new service on the West Coast in the coming weeks, which will link Stirling directly with London Euston, in addition to calling at destinations including Lockerbie, Motherwell, Carlisle and Preston.
Comedian Kate Hammer will perform multiple shows at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival this year including her debut solo show 'Government Approved Comedian’.
