Reece Shearsmith has been confirmed as one of the stars of a new play, Hangmen, which opens at the Royal Court Theatre on September 10.
Hangmen, written by Martin McDonagh, tells the story of "the second-best hangman in England" on the day in 1965 when hanging is abolished. McDonagh also wrote the movies In Brudges and Seven Psychopaths.
Artistic director Vicky Featherstone said: "Hangmen is deliriously horrendous, dark and funny. Martin is on brilliant form. I can't wait to unleash it on an audience."
It has not been confirmed what part Shearsmith will play. The all-star cast also includes David Morrissey, Johnny Flynn from Scrotal Recall and Ralf Ineson, best known as Finchy from The Office.
