British stand up/actor Brett Goldstein has been cast in a new comedy television pilot being made by HBO in America.

According to a Deadline report, A Lot is inspired by Maureen Dowd’s book Are Men Necessary?: When Sexes Collide.

The comedy will star Whitney Cummings and will feature Goldstein alongside Lucy Punch, Jenn Tullock and Krystal Smith.

The plot follows Cummings' character, who has plenty of money but also plenty of comedic problems dealing with men.

Goldstein, who starred in his first movie SuperBob last year, plays Max, "who designs hand-drawn wall paper and makes very little money."
