Comedian Adam Buxton is taking part in a Channel 4 one-off which aims to show viewers how to make the most of their weekend by exploring the weird, wonderful and wild activities in the UK.
The Great Escapists (working title) will meet the colourful, charismatic and often extremely eccentric characters who have created bespoke experiences.
Buxton will be checking out the best places to stay. He will be wild-camping on a Dartmoor tor, checking out Devon’s one and only sustainable eco-pod campsite and trying out a camping trailer that leaves nothing to chance.
The comedian is a fan of the outdoor life - he regularly records the intros to his podcast while walking across fields near to his home in Norfolk.
Also in the programme Paralympic presenter, ex-Royal Marine and adrenaline junkie Arthur Williams will go free-diving, wild swimming and sea kayaking. And food lover Clem Green is going to wrangle ponies on Dartmoor, forage and cook a delicious lunch on Dartmoor’s foothills, and stay in a hand-built iron-age roundhouse.
The Great Escapists will be broadcast this spring.
