After a run at 2017’s Edinburgh Fringe, Tez Ilyas is taking his solo show Teztify around the UK with a national tour starting in March 2018.
Teztify is Tez Ilyas’ third stand-up show. His previous two, TEZ Talks and Made in Britain, both garnered critical acclaim. Teztify is no different. It’s a spectacularly powerful, provocative and brilliantly funny hour of topical stand up from a rising star of comedy.
Having spent a lot of the last year dealing with the ignorance of the aftermath of major terrorist attacks and the resurgence of the far right, Tez Ilyas is ‘teztifying’ against all the assumptions the world has of him. Muslim, a Northerner, a working-class man of faith – all labels he owns, but what does he really think of them? No matter the answer, you know he’ll do it with his trademark cheek and satirical wit.
After his debut Edinburgh show, TEZ Talks transferred to BBC Radio 4 for a full series and Tez’s career has just kept going up! Tez has just finished recording the second series of his radio show which airs in February 2018. In addition, his first ever national tour, earlier this year, was a resounding success and he’s also just finished filming on a new sitcom, Man Like Mobeen, which was commissioned after a successful BBC Feed (BBC Two/Three).
Tez is also appearing as a guest on ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity: Camp, hosted by previous contestant Joel Dommett and reigning Queen of The Jungle, Scarlett Moffatt.
In addition, he has appeared on: Mock The Week (BBC Two), Live at the BBC , The Last Leg (Channel 4), Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), The Chris Ramsey Show (Comedy Central), Unspun with Matt Forde (Dave) and is a firm favourite on The Now Show (BBC R4). Excitingly, Tez has made a brand-new quiz show pilot for Vice and has also written and starred in his own scripted comedy shorts for BBC Three, BBC iPlayer and Sky Arts.
