Fans who were lucky enough to get tickets for the charity screenings of the finale of Peter Kay's Car Share have been singing the show's praises.
The audience at the Blackpool Opera House on Friday night was asked to keep the outcome of whether John (Peter Kay) and Kayleigh (Sian Gibson) finally get together secret but it has been revealed that a famous pop group appears in the episode.
According to the BBC 3000 fans attended the first screening on Friday evening and tweeted their thoughts afterwards. One fan called Dana described Peter Kay as a "comedy genius". Leanna Yule tweeted that she laughed until she cried. On Saturday Neil Hailwood teweeted: "car share is amazing... Never ever laughed as much ever..."
Kay himself made a rare live appearance at the Saturday night screening. He received a standing ovation and said: ""Enjoy the last ever episode of Car Share. Don't tell anyone the end. Or tell anyone about any hedgehogs."
When the screenings were announced Kay explained where the money raised from the screenings would go when he announced them: “The Lily Foundation is an inspiring charity that helps to improve the lives of children with Mitochondrial Disease. I’ve had first-hand experience of the Foundation’s work and I’m proud to raise both awareness and much-needed funds to help with the inspiring work they provide to children and their families.”
The final episode and a new, improvised episode will be screened on BBC One in May.
