Following four sell-out nights in 2017, Robin Ince’s popular Christmas shows return this year with a slightly tweaked title – Nine Lessons And Carols For Curious People – a new venue and the usual shambles.
These shows have always been about celebrating the best that humanity has to offer and our curiosity about the universe around us. That’s something The Cosmic Shambles Network has always been about too. We’re also at a time in human history where positive curiosity has never been in more demand. So join Robin this December as he presents a heady mix of science, comedy, poetry, music and much much more.
With a different mix of special guests every night you will leave with a song in your heart (technically, it won’t be your heart. If it is your heart, that might be evidence of a murmur) and a reading list in your pocket. As always profits from the shows will go to chosen charities, which this year are Mind and Two Wheels for Life.
Currently, thirteen million people live below the poverty line in the UK, so as in 2017, we will also be collecting for The Trussell Trust foodbanks at Nine Lessons. There will be a list of the most desperately needed food and household items on the Cosmic Shambles website closer to the event date.
Robin Ince is a multiple award winning comedian best known for co-hosting the international smash hit, Rose D’Or and Sony Award winning BBC Radio 4 and podcast series, The Infinite Monkey Cage, with Professor Brian Cox and the acclaimed Book Shambles podcast with Josie Long.
He has been the co-curator and host of some of the most acclaimed live science shows and tours in the UK including Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People, Uncaged Monkeys, Brian and Robin’s Christmas Compendium of Reason and this year’s hugely popular Space Shambles at the Royal Albert Hall.
He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science by the Royal Holloway University of London in 2013. Along with the team at Trunkman Productions he co-created The Incomplete Map of the Cosmic Genome, and The Cosmic Shambles Network’s kid’s science-comedy web series The Quest For Wonder in which he also starred with Brian Cox.
Robin’s new book I’m a Joke and So Are You has just been published.
