News: Comedians Star In New Nationwide Ad Campaign

Stand-ups Helen Bauer, Adam Rowe, Maisie Adam, Jonny Pelham, Harriet Kemsley and Sunil Patel are the stars of the latest Nationwide ad campaign, Pay Day Save Day. The major advertising campaign was created by organising and filming a stand-up comedy night where the comedians took the theme of ‘savings’ and put their own personal spin on it in front of a live audience.

The campaign was devised in response to the UK’s saving crisis (more than 11 million people have less than £100 in savings) and aims to encourage people to put a small amount away each month using ‘payday’ as a trigger. It will run across a variety of advertising channels, including TV, radio, newspapers and posters. The adverts featuring Helen and Adam started running today, 12th August, on TV and VOD (video on demand). The campaign was developed with the Society’s lead creative agency VCCP with media planning and buying by Wavemaker.

Helen Bauer is six foot tall with a broad back, fluent in German and hilarious. She was a BBC New Comedy Award Finalist in 2018, she also was part of the prestigious Pleasance Reserve lineup in Edinburgh 2018 (alumni includes Joe Lycett, Doc Brown and Jack Whitehall). Her recent podcast with Rosie Jones called Daddy Look At Me has had a fantastic reception and was featured on the iTunes ‘new and notable’. She is currently performing her debut show at 6pm at The Pleasance Bunker One at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Adam Rowe has recently featured on The Tez O'Clock show on Channel 4 bringing his award winning brand of opinionated, energetic comedy to the masses. He has previously appeared on ITV2's The Stand Up Sketch Show and footage of his stand up has been viewed over 10 million times online. Last year he was the recipient of Dave's Best Joke of the Fringe award and has been crowned Liverpool comedian of the year. He has opened for Bill Burr at the Royal Albert Hall and toured with him across the UK. He is currently performing his new show at 7.30pm at Just The Tonic’s The Caves at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which he will be touring this Autumn.
