Nominations for the 2020 Scottish Comedy Awards were opened at the start of the year, in March a panel whittled the long list down to the below short list.
This year’s nominations feature a host of worldwide stars including David Tennant for his role as Crowley in Amazon’s Good Omens, Edinburgh’s Ncuti Gatwa as Otis in Netflix’s Sex Education, and Bathgate boy Lewis Capaldi who famously got in an hilarious bit of trolling with Noel Gallagher.
Janey Godley leads the list with 4 nominations (Headliner, TV Comic, Solo show and online content). Perthshire Farmer Jim Smith has 3 nominations (TV Comic, Radio Comic & Solo Show).
Over the past three months during lockdown the creativity of Scotland’s comedy folk has been nothing short of inspirational. This year we will have a special Lockdown Comedy Award. Details about this will be announced closer to the event, hopefully once the Scottish Government have allowed performers to start performing in front of live audiences again.
The winners will be announced on August 4.
