Comedy fans may already be familiar with chunks of Janey Godley's life from her past stand-up shows and her autobiography, Handstands In The Dark. But this powerfully funny new four-part radio series casts them in a new light and brings things very much up to date.
The inaugural Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award has been awarded to Janey Godley, just minutes after she closed the show at the official Closing Gala.
The independent panel met on Wednesday 29th March to consider the nominations and passed their recommendations on to Sir Billy Connolly who made the final decision ahead of the announcement today.
Janey Godley has issued a statement on social media saying that she has to undergo further cancer treatment. Last summer she said that her ovarian cancer had gone.
Posting on Instagram and Twitter she said that cancer was: "back on the cards" and she will now undergo chemotherapy. She explained that her cancer marker had gone up and there was still a bit of disease in her abdomen.

Janey Godley has postponed her upcoming dates this weekend. The Scottish comedian posted a picture of herself in hospital on social media and explained why.
"Sorry but my last weekend of the tour can’t go ahead in Edinburgh and Musselburgh as I am in hospital with ovarian cancer - look after each other #MentalHealthMatters"
