Comic Relief has announced how much money was raised by their The Big Night In Appeal in April.
The night, which was broadcast on the BBC, included special performances from Little Britain, Miranda Hart, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, Jason Manford, Nish Kumar, Jack Whitehall, Joe Wickes, Romesh Ranganathan, Catherine Tate and David Tennant and Peter Kay.
The UK Government’s match funding came to a close on 23rd June and £74,026,927 has been raised. £20million will go to National Emergencies Trust, £4million to NHS Charities Together and the rest split between BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief. This money is already supporting people who really need it through this crisis all over the UK.
Organisations which will receive money raised includes The British Red Cross, Rosa Woman's Fund, Refugee Action and Age UK, who support hugely important work on the frontline. These organisations can offer vital support to those affected by issues like hunger, domestic violence and abuse, homelessness and isolation.
The Big Night In appeal has now ended, which also ends their one-off partnership with BBC Children in Need.
Comic Relief will be back for Red Nose Day 2021.
