News: Who Is On Sunday Brunch?

After making way for the cricket on C4 last week Sunday Brunch moves back to its regular channel this week although it starts much later than usual. To be honest 11.45am is much more like brunch time for me - I'm barely having breakfast if I'm lucky when it normally kicks off at a dewy-eyed 9.30am.

It also might mean that guests can have some Valentine's Day morning time with their loved ones or some beauty sleep before getting down to plugging whatever they want to plug. This week's guests include John Bishop, Guvna B, George Russell, David Gandy (who doesn't need any beauty sleep), Denise Van Outen, Dr Raj Singh, plus tipple tips from Ned Halley and food fun from John Gregory-Smith and music from Birdy.

Comedian John Bishop currently co-hosts the hit podcast Three Little Words with actor Tony Pitts. In each episode they invite guests to chat about three words that mean something to them and the one they would gladly never hear again. Russell Brand is their latest guest. Listen here.

Sunday Brunch hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer seem to come in for a lot of stick, particularly Lovejoy. Admittedly there have been better Sunday morning shows, such as This Morning with Richard Not Judy in the early 1990s, which was fronted by Richard Herring and Stewart Lee, and had a decidedly irreverent, anacrhic streak to it. But Sunday Brunch doesn't have much competition these days. In fact compared to Alan Titchmarsh on ITV Lovejoy and Rimmer are closer to Lee and Herring.

I'm not quite sure why they get so much criticism. OK, they are probably never going to be invited to present Newsnight – though these days never say never about anything – but they are perfectly genial banter merchants. And on a Sunday morning, sorry, Sunday brunchtime, with so much bad news in the world, maybe that's all we need.

Sunday Brunch, Sunday, February 14, 11.45am, C4.
