After a long wait (over 4 years) a new series of Isy Suttie's love-themed interview podcast The Things We Do For Love will begin on July 15th.
The new series will include guests guests Jessica Fostekew, Alan Davies, Sian Harries, Paterson Joseph, Bridget Christie, Tom Parry, Margaret Cabourn-Smith, Richard Herring and Jo Brand.
The Things We Do For Love is the hilarious, honest and heartfelt interview series in which host Isy Suttie delves into her own and her guest’s romantic pasts to explore the lengths we go to for love.
Conversations cover subjects as varied as marriage proposals (including one made whilst kneeling in urine), failed first relationships, under-age drinking, teenage dares and house parties, the catharsis of burning things, bad sex, being in a biker gang, cheap chocolate, French exchanges, biscuit obsessions and polygamy.
So why the long wait? After four episodes featuring John Robins, Josh Widdicombe, Danielle Ward and Nick Helm were released back in 2016/2017, life rather got in the way for both Isy and series producer Ben Walker (Do The Right Thing, RHLSTP, The Harrowing) with childbirth, book deadlines, illness and demanding ‘real’ jobs meaning recording a batch of new episodes was never really on the cards. That was until late 2019 when availabilities aligned and energies were harnessed to book in several live recording dates in early 2020. Then after one very fun double recording in February… Covid.
Reconvening once home studios had been constructed and home-schooling had been mastered, Isy completed the series in the rather different environment of the one-on-one video call – and though the live audience was sorely missed, the conversations themselves became even more intimate and surprising as a result.
Isy Suttie says “I’ve absolutely loved making this series of the podcast. I’ve learnt surprising things about my guests and myself, and I never could have predicted the twists and turns that each conversation would take. My mum, as ever, is under strict instruction not to listen.”
The series starts 15th July 2021 with the first three episodes and then releases weekly on Thursdays for 7 weeks.
