News: Eddie Izzard To Headline Major Shelter Benefit

Eddie Izzard Shelter

Eddie Izzard is to headline a one-off benefit for housing and homelessness charity Shelter. Stand up for Shelter will take place on Wednesday, 25 February, 2015 at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.

The acclaimed superstar will top a bill also featuring Josh Widdicombe, Rob Beckett and Sara Pascoe. Along with other special guests that are still to be announced, the evening will be hosted by Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell, the official radio partner for Stand Up for Shelter.

Izzard said: “It’s great to be doing a gig for Shelter, who are a lifeline for people battling to keep a roof over their heads. With demand for their services increasing every day, Shelter needs as much support as possible to make sure no-one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own. So please buy a ticket, have a laugh, and support a great charity at the same time.”

Tickets for this one-off night of comedy are on sale now at shelter.org.uk/standup with all proceeds going straight to Shelter.

90,000 children are homeless in Britain today, with many families forced to live in one room of a hostel or B&B, sharing kitchen and bathroom facilities with strangers and with nowhere to do their homework or even eat dinner. Every penny raised from the event will go towards helping Shelter to make sure that they can be there to support all those struggling with bad housing and homelessness.

Izzard will also be taking his world tour of Force Majeure to Australia and New Zealand in January and February 2015. His Sydney performance will be a special show on the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House with the iconic Harbour Bridge as the back drop.
