Spare a thought for Mock The Week. The very final new edition of the show goes out on Friday night but was recorded the night before Liz Truss resigned.

The line-up for the last show is Alasdair Beckett-King, Angela Barnes, Hugh Dennis, Dara O'Briain, Rhys James, Ahir Shah, Zoe Lyons. 

As Angela Barnes tweeted: "Liz Truss has done some terrible things, but resigning the day after we record the last ever episode of Mock The Week is up there"

While Alisdair Beckett King drily tweeted shortly after the PM's announcement: "So thrilled to have recorded Mock the Week yesterday afternoon after all the major stories had come out."

And Dara O Briain summed up the state of affairs succinctly: "We recorded the final Mock the Week last night. Jesus, she can’t even get that right."
