Pleasance Theatre Puts First Edinburgh Shows On Sale

Pleasance Theatre Trust present their first official-on sale of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023. Featuring unmissable shows from The Showstoppers, NewsRevue, Sh!t-faced Shakespeare, Paul Merton, Chloe Petts (pictured bottom) and Adam Kay (pictured top), the Pleasance offers audiences a whole host of productions across this year’s festival.

This year's festival runs from August 2 - August 28.

Fringe favourite Adam Kay returns for his first full month at the Fringe since 2016 with Undoctored - This is Going to Hurt...More, leaving audiences laughing and crying with Adam's unique tales of life on and off the wards. Chloe Petts also returns with If You Can't Say Anything Nice, fresh from her smash hit 2022 Fringe and Soho Theatre sell-out debut.

Rip-roaring new musical TONY! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera], written by comic legend Harry Hill and longtime collaborator Steve Brown, tells the story of how one man went from peace-loving, long- haired hippy and would-be pop star to warmongering multimillionaire in just a couple of decades. Throw in a stellar cast of larger-than-life characters, and it’s a musical like no other!

Newsrevue, the Guinness World Record-breaking, standard-bearing, song and sketch show, returns to Edinburgh to parody politics once again, sending up those in the public eye and allowing audiences to laugh at the awful reality of current events.

From the harbingers of queer chaos Awkward Productions and Linus Karp, who brought you the hit how to live a jellicle life: life lessons from the 2019 hit movie musical 'cats', Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story combines drag, multimedia, audience interaction, puppetry and a lot of queer joy – this unique celebration of the people’s princess is as hilarious as it is tasteless.

Returning after sell-out runs and audience acclaim in 2018 and 2019, one-man tour-de-force war epic In Loyal Company tells the incredible true story of missing WWII soldier Arthur Robinson, written and performed by his great-nephew David William Bryan.

After three years away, Paul Merton is bringing his highly acclaimed Impro Chums to the Pleasance once again, with audience suggestions creating unmissable unique evenings of laughter. And triumphantly returning for another year of improvised musical hilarity, the must-see, Olivier Award- winning West End hit Showstoppers! The Musical is back and better than ever – your Edinburgh Festival experience is simply incomplete without it!

The smash-hit, internationally acclaimed, multi sell-out fringe phenomenon Shit-faced Shakespeare is back with their hilarious combination of an entirely serious Shakespeare play, with an entirely sh*t-faced cast member. In 2023 they will tackle Romeo & Juliet - what could possibly go wrong?

For those wanting a taste of everything, check out the Best of Edinburgh Showcase, with great value lunchtime comedy featuring the best and brightest of this year's Fringe comics. With a freshly hand- picked line up each day, there’s no better place to go for the best of the Fringe! Mervyn Stutter’s Pick of the Fringe celebrates its 30th anniversary of platforming the best productions that Edinburgh has to offer, with 90-minute lunchtime showcases that highlight brand new selection of seven top shows every day.

With more shows to be announced over the coming months there will be comedy, theatre, circus, magic, dance, kids’ shows and much more, alongside support for some of the most innovative newcomers through artist development strand Pleasance Futures.

Tickets for all shows are available at www.pleasance.co.uk and 0131 556 6550.
