What is the last thing you do before you go onstage (apart from check your flies and/or check your knickers aren't sticking out of your skirt and check for spinach between your teeth)

I have really weird superstition/OCD with the number 3. So I have to do certain things in 3’s. Last thing I do is look at a photo of my kids then press each of the buttons on my phone 3 times. If I mess it up I have to start the process again.

What irritates you?

Arrogance and hypocrisy. You get a huge amount of both in this industry and at points it makes me want to leave it all together. Oh and Ed Sheeran.

What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

Using a portaloo at T In The Park on the Sunday night.

What is the most stupid thing you have ever done?

On another comic, Kai Humphries' stag do, I had to make a train and a taxi hadn’t turned up. I decided to walk it 4 miles through the Spanish mountains in the dark. I ended up having to fight off two wild dogs.

What has surprised you the most during your career in comedy?

That it will never be a meritocracy. Some of the finest comedians you will never see because they have never been given a break.
