February 29 is traditionally the day when women are allowed to propose marriage, but it doesn't say anything in the rules about them proposing marriage onstage at a comedy gig. And that's waht happened at a Russell Kane gig in Market Drayton on the last day of February in this leap year.

The award-winning comic was doing his gig when he got into conversation with a couple called Fay and Paul. Kane got them both up onstage saying that he does this every night on tour and then, acting suprised at the realisation of the date, he noted that it was February 29...

...At which point Fay took the microphone said "As much as I hate public speaking, will you do me the honour?" to Paul and offered him a weddding ring. 

After a hug and a round of applause Kane added "Oh, by the way she's got chlamydia."

Fay later posted on Instagram: "Thanks @russell_kane for helping me surprise @paulnewman73, I think he’s finally over the shock xXx"
