Friends of Comedian Darren Maskell are organising a one-night tribute to the much-missed comic who sadly passed away earlier this year.
The show, which falls on the week of Darren’s birthday, is a fun night of celebration featuring some of Darren’s favourite acts and friends who will be giving their time to fundraise for the ‘Maskell awards’, new awards to be launched in 2025 championing those with unique approaches to comedy like Darren.

The night is a celebration of daftness and fun and should be a great night out for those who knew Darren, and equally, for those who love this sort of comedy.
The show is organised by comedian Hatty Ashdown, a long-term friend of Darren’s who took a show up to the Edinburgh Fringe with Darren ‘Ashdown and Maskell’s Trade show’ and is co-organised by Darren’s other friends Adam Larter, of Weirdos Comedy and comedy photographer Ed Moore.
‘Darren was a one off prankster prop Comedian with a unique voice . The night will be filled with some of his favourite acts and friends. We want the night to be a celebration of Darren, the Alternative and to spread the message of always taking risks!’

About Darren Maskell
Darren Maskell passed away at the age of 37 in 2024.
He was well known for his innovative style of comedy both onstage and online, he blended surrealist visual humour with deadpan stand-up and storytelling.
A real-life fishmonger he brought an ‘every-day’ lens to his comedy and created colourful worlds of everyday absurdism from correctly guessing the audience’s strength in Ribena to showcasing a ‘typical British mantelpiece’ and his favourite coat hangers.
