The Altitude Comedy Festival, which was due to take place in Mayrhofen in Austria at the end of March, has been cancelled.
The line-up for the annual skiing/comedy festival was due to include Marcus Brigstocke, Andrew Maxwell, Daniel Sloss, Rich Hall, Reginald D Hunter and Zoe Lyons.
The organisers have issued the following statement.
"It is with a heavy, heavy heart that we have to tell you that this week, the Austrian government has placed a ban on all indoor events for above 100 people. This ban is in place from now until April 3rd, is likely to be extended.
We assessed the risks. We had contingency plans in place. We worked on all the options. But at the end of the day, your wellbeing, and that of our staff, artists and the whole community must come first.
We sadly have to announce the cancellation of Altitude 2020 after all.
We know this will be as disappointing for you as it is for us. We were massively looking forward to our 12th festival, and have never had to cancel before.
Obviously, this news will throw up some questions…most obviously, ‘so what happens to my tickets?!?'
We can refund you, or you can retain them.
If you choose to take a refund, we’ll aim to get that processed in 21 days.
Please contact Ticketline if you want to do this.
Or… If you choose to retain them, the first round of drinks next year is on us - which we'll invite you to come & share with the comedians and the Altitude team.
Altitude 2021 will be happening on March 29th - April 2nd
As of right now…
Mayrhofen's hotels, ski lifts, bars and restaurants currently all remain open so you can still hit the slopes. But it’s wise to keep an eye on the news for the latest travel updates and restrictions.
That’s it, really. As we’ve said, this is unprecedented for Altitude, not the outcome we wanted or expected, and we are truly, truly sorry.
We are absolutely gutted.
Please look after yourselves and each other and hopefully we’ll see you all in Mayrhofen next Spring.
All the love.
