Altitude
The Altitude Comedy Festival, which combines comedy and ski-slope activities in Mayrhofen, has won two awards just a couple of days apart. Altitude Festival was up against some tough competition in the Best Overseas Festival category this year nominated along such giant festivals as Snowbombing, Sziget, Dimensions, Lost and Found and 8 Festival.
The Altitude Comedy Festival, which was due to take place in Mayrhofen in Austria at the end of March, has been cancelled.
The line-up for the annual skiing/comedy festival was due to include Marcus Brigstocke, Andrew Maxwell, Daniel Sloss, Rich Hall, Reginald D Hunter and Zoe Lyons.
The organisers have issued the following statement.
The first acts have been announced for this year's Altitude Festival in the Austrian ski resort of Mayrhofen.
They include Terry Alderton, Andrew Maxwell. Marcus Brigstocke, Zoe Lyons, Daniel Sloss, Joel Dommett, Craig Campbell, Glenn Wool, Andy Askins, Kai Humphries, Jenny Bede and Altitude veterans The International Improv All-stars. Many more acts are still to be announced.
If you look up Comedian's Comedian in a decent dictionary you will probably see a picture of Andrew Maxwell (the one here is by Richard Hardcastle). The Irish stand-up is one of our finest performers. Quite why he is not a much bigger star is one of life's great mysteries.

The Altitude Comedy Festival returned to Mayrhofen in Austria last week, offering the perfect holiday for anyone who likes a combination of winter sports and gags. As ever the five-day laugh binge was a terrific opportunity to see Arena stars playing small theatres and clubs. John Bishop and Eddie Izzard both headlined Gala gigs in the relatively intimate - for them – 550-seater Europahaus, but also took the opportunity to get back to their club roots and do some smaller, intimate shows in the bars around town.
