Geoff Norcott is doing an online run of a brand-new online stand-up show on August 6/7/8th at 8pm. 

It’s called Geoff Norcott’s Front Room Fringe and is both for those who might have been heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe and anyone who fancies some live stand-up in their front room.

Norcott will be tackling hot topics such as cancel culture, statues and the idea that men and women are different (which is somehow controversial again). All delivered online via the miracle of Zoom.

The Mash Report star says: "Despite always giving the leftie Edinburgh festival stick, I do love it and will miss it. I’d normally go up with an hour or some newer and established bits, so thought why not do it online?"

He plans to try and bring some of the flavour of the fringe to the experience, "I’ll see what I can do to make it feel like the festival. If someone could walk out ten minutes before the end because they have another online show, that would help."

The show is separate from Norcott’s tour Taking Liberties, which he’s hoping to resume as soon as possible. "Given so much has happened it wasn’t that hard to come up with new stuff. We all had the new realities of being stuck at home, then that bit just after when everyone went culturally and politically mental."

Like many online shows it will have a ‘techie’. "You need them," Norcott added, "People don’t realise how noisy their front-rooms can be. As I’ve said in the warm-up gigs, it’s like Gogglebox except I need you to laugh and avoid deconstructing my act until it’s over." 

"The pre-sale stuff went quickly, so we could end up adding more dates. Maybe I could fill up the whole month and end up just as exhausted and depressed as I would at the real Edinburgh Fringe."
