Ever had one of those gigs...
Mark Simmons had an eventful set on Wednesday night.
Kent-based one-liner merchant Simmons was doing an online show for Out of Bounds Comedy when the power cut out just as the show began. Simmons showed some initiative and drove for 20 minutes to find the nearest 4G hotspot, using the light outside a doctor's surgery as a spotlight.
But then half way through his set his battery went down to 5% and so he took it to his car to plug it in and continue his set, cracking jokes along the way. At which an audience member – yes people were still watching! – said, “who’s that in the back?”
Mark was terrified but then played up to the joke. An eventful way to the end year.
"That's showbusiness baby!" tweeted Simmons. Well it is in the age of Covid-19, tiers and lockdowns.
