Following the huge success of Ben Elton’s critically acclaimed sold-out UK tour in 2019, which marked his return to stand up after a 15 year hiatus, the undisputed godfather of modern stand-up is going back on the road with a brand new live show – Authentic Stupidity. Taking in 54 dates across the UK & Ireland, the tour opens at York Barbican on 1 September and culminates in London’s West End on 18 November.

The rock theatrical, written and directed by Ben and featuring the songs of Queen, returns to London 21 years after it first exploded into the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season from 2 June – 27 August.

You could say Ben Elton was one of the lucky ones in terms of Covid cancellations. At least the stage version of Upstart Crow, starring David Mitchell as the bard, opened in the West End, even if it had to close early. It must have been frustrating though for everyone concerned becasue it got great reviews.
