Ben Miller
Filming has begun in Canberra on Austin, a charming new eight-part narrative comedy series Austin.
Ben Miller is one of the stars of ITV1's All Star Musicals at Christmas.
The special seasonal programme will see presenter Fern Britton, Ben Miller, former-MP and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, presenter Anita Rani, actress Catherine Tyldesley, and sports presenter Radzi Chinyanganya, take centre-stage for a night of festive entertainment.
Is Asylum about Julian Assange? Co-writer Peter Bowden doesn’t think so, tweeting: “You may see Assange. You're free to see Assange….But that's not what I wrote and you'd be wrong.” An email I received from the publicist, however, said that it “is based on the true stories of whistleblowers - including the likes of Julian Assange.” But let’s leave the debate to others and review the programme, written by Bowden and Thom Phipps and conceived by Kayvan (Fonejacker) Novak and producer Tom Thostrup.
"Ever since I can remember, comedy was the thing that I wanted to do,” says comedian, writer, actor and director Ben Miller. “I loved studying for my PhD [in solid-state physics], but I never really had any intention of having a career in it, so I started doing more writing, stand-up and acting, taking part in lots of student plays – all while I probably should have been researching electrons.
Ben Miller is set to guest star opposite Peter Capaldi when the new series of Doctor Who returns this autumn.
Commenting on his role, Ben Miller says: "As a committed Whovian I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures. My only worry is that they'll make me leave the set when I'm not filming."
