Derek
When we initially meet someone, we get the conversation going by making assumptions about each other - from our identities, backgrounds and experiences. In this highly original, intoxicating show, and following a much-talked-about debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, Derek Mitchell (2023 Leicester Square Sketch Off Finalist) gets his teeth into this subject (and most of the rest of his body, too) with a tour de force of multi-national laughs.
30/12/14: Update – if you enjoyed Derek a longer version of the final episode is going to be released on Netflix outside the UK next year: "Even though the UK got it first with its airing on Channel 4, the good news for Netflix viewers around the world is that you will get a longer version, which in my opinion is even better. Not sure on the launch date yet but I should know very soon.,” wrote Gervais on his blog.
A funny thing happened to me when I was watching the penultimate episode of Rev the other week. When Liam Neeson appeared in a shell suit as God and reassured Adam Smallbone that he would always be there for him I started to well up. I wouldn't go as far as to say a tear ran down my cheek, but I was definitely moved. And no, I'm not a Christian and have no plans to become one.
What must it be like to be the brain of Ricky Gervais?
