Fern Brady
After more than a decade entertaining crowds in Kilburn and Camden Town, last summer Good Ship Comedy set sail across the Thames to the Royal Victoria Patriotic Building in Wandsworth as part of The New Normal Festival.
One of the UK’s most exciting comedians, Fern Brady is heading out on a nationwide tour of her fifth solo show Autistic Bikini Queen. Starting in Salford on 25th January and ending in Glasgow at the Kings Theatre on 17th March.
I've got to be honest. While it's great to see comedians back on stage on television in the current Funny Festival Live on BBC Two I'm not sure if it's the best showcase for stand-up. It reminds me of ancient pre-Live at the Apollo BBC stand-up shows filmed in small venues, such as Paramount City, that never quite captured the atmosphere of a real live gig.
Fern Brady is the host of the latest edition of BBC Three's Stand Up For Live Comedy. It is available on iPlayer now here and on BBC1 on Monday, October 12 at 10.45pm too. It was recorded in Glasgow.
BBC Presents: Stand Up For Live Comedy will start filming on 1 September in six different cities across the UK, with a mission to kick start live stand-up comedy again.
Wheel of Misfortune is a new comedy podcast launching on BBC Sounds on Tuesday 4th August presented by comedians and friends, Alison Spittle and Fern Brady.
Fern Brady has announced dates in Australia, UK and Europe for her new show Power and Chaos.
The Scottish comic has previously been seen on shows including Live from the BBC, Live from the Comedy Store, The Russell Howard Hour and Live at the Apollo Fern is one of the UK’s hottest comedy stars.
Ross Noble, Fern Brady and Miles Jupp have been added to the line-up of the Bristol Comedy Garden, which takes place in Queen Square from June 6 - 10.
The Geordie comedian, recently seen in the West End of London in Young Frankenstein, will be performing a special Sunday afternoon show in the Big Top. He will be supported by Miles Jupp and the fast-rising, lightning-quick Fern Brady. Rabble-rousing Irishman Andrew Maxwell rounds off the line-up.
Given that most comedians are sticking Brexit material into their act faster than you can say “Conservative minority” it is quite canny of broadcaster Viceland to come up with the four-part Brexit Stage Left, in which a group of comics – Jamali Maddix, Alfie Brown, Fern Brady and Sean McLoughlin – travel to Europe to see what we are going to be missing in a few years and also get to do a gig.
