Gilded Balloon
Edinburgh's legendary Gilded Balloon club is running more online comedy shows on Friday nights to bring a flavour of the Fringe into viewers' homes.
Each week the club features big names, newcomers and those in between from the worlds of comedy, music, cabaret, spoken word and more. The shows are a suprise package. You don’t know what kind of artist you’ll see next.
Gilded Balloon has announced another 150 for this year's Edinburgh Fringe. Housed across five major venue hubs, including the brand new Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose and Gilded Balloon at Old Tolbooth Market, this is Gilded Balloon’s biggest programme in its history – with 90 more shows still to be unveiled in May.
Edinburgh Fringe institution The Gilded Balloon is to take over the main C Venues location in Chambers Street this summer.
Now in its 31st year, So You Think You're Funny has an excellent track record at producing comedy stars. Previous winners include Maisie Adam, Ivo Graham, Tom Allen, Miles Jupp, Rob Rouse, Peter Kay, Dylan Moran and Rhona Cameron. 2016’s winner Heidi Regan was awarded the BBC New Comedy Award 2017. From 400 entrants the final featured nine acts – plus compere Zoe Lyons who deserved a prize for filling in and keeping the audience amused for longer than expected while the judges deliberated.
Gilded Balloon has revealed its full Fringe offering of over 160 shows, as the rest of its programme goes on sale.
The Gilded Balloon has announced another seventy Edinburgh Fringe shows this August.
Gilded Balloon has announced their first round of Edinburgh Fringe shows.
The Gilded Balloon is to launch a winter season of comedy and theatre. This will kick off a brand-new, year-round home for comedy, theatre and cabaret right in the heart of Edinburgh's West End at the Rose Theatre.
Dylan Moran will be the first comedian in the programme. He will appear in The Basement Theatre on November 23rd, playing two dates from his latest tour, Grumbling Mustard.
Theatre fans can see Morag Fullarton’s critically-acclaimed, sell-out show A Bottle of Wine and Patsy Cline.
Kai Humphries might not be a household name, but if you live in his hometown of Blyth in the north-east, where his family runs the Punch-Drunk comedy club, he sounds like something of a legend. His show is a truly-heart-warming tale of as community pulling together thanks to comedy. And thanks to two brothers thumping the shit out of each other in the boxing ring.
You won’t see another comedy show on the Edinburgh Fringe like Robert White’s InstruMENTAL. That’s for sure. But then again you won’t see another performer like Robert White, who is gay, autistic and a bit of a musical whizzkid. His show is a light opera about his life and, as the title suggests, he puts the MENTAL in Instrumental.
