Edinburgh venue the Gilded Balloon will expand into the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town in 2017, with a new partnership with the Rose Theatre. Zoe Lyons is one of the comedy circuit’s most reliable stand-ups, loved by both fans and fellow professionals. In fact last year her peers voted her Comedian's Comedian. So there is never any doubt that the eminently skilful Brighton resident is going to be funny. But can she add that extra something to be a contender for a major award in Edinburgh, where the judges invariably look for that little sprinkling of conceptual fairy dust?
The Gilded Balloon has announced that it has another a new venue. It will be presenting shows at the National Museums of Scotland at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The programme sees 18 productions covering adult and children’s theatre, comedy and music.

It has been reported that legendary Edinburgh venue The Gilded Balloon is to take over the Counting House venue this year.
This year the Gilded Balloon’s annual talent search went global. The 10-strong line-up was one of the most international competition line-ups I’ve ever seen, proving, if nothing else, that people who have English as a first language do not have a monopoly on good humour.
The winner if this year's So You Think You’re Funny? Competition is Luca Cupani.
The London-based Italian comedian was chosen as the winner in a final at the Gilded Balloon. He only started doing stand-up last year after moving to the UK.
The other 9 finalists were Ben Pope, Yumna Mohamed, Neil O'Rourke, Matilda Wnek, Red Richardson, Ed Day, Yuriko Kotani, Stephen Lawson and AJ Roberts.
