New BBC Comedy Feeds Announced

A new batch of BBC Comedy Feeds pilots, due to be released in July, have been announced today. All nine comedy pilots have been commissioned for iPlayer and BBC Three by Shane Allen, Controller BBC Comedy, Victoria Jaye, Head of TV Content for BBC iPlayer and Zai Bennett, former Controller BBC Three.

This year’s Comedy Feeds include:

News: ARGComFest Line-Up Announced

The line-up for ARGComFest, aka Actually Rather Good Comedy Festival, has just been announced. The two-day Fringe Preview festival is returning for a third year over the weekend of July 5 & 6. There will be 32 Edinburgh previews in two days, this year moving from last year's venue in Camden Town to The Garage, Highbury Corner, in Islington. One ticket covers access to all shows - there are either daily or weekend tickets. The festival is organised by James Lowey with the help of Matthew Crosby's contacts book.

Picture Report: Machynlleth Comedy Festival Part Two.

It might have been a Sunday but it was no day of rest for the comedians at the Machynlleth Festival. One of the reasons that the weekend is so laid back is that there are no Foster’s-style prizes, so nobody feels like they are in competition. Tom Craine, however, would have won the prize for Earliest Comedian when I spotted him outside the box office around 9.30am. It turned out that he was rushing off home and had a morning train to catch.

News: Simon Amstell & More Added to Latitude Line-Up

Simon Amstell is the latest big name to be added to the line-up of the Latitude Festival, which takes place in Henham Park, Suffolk from July 17 - 20. The comedian has been working on new material at the Invisible Dot club in London in recent weeks so this may be the first major public outing for his latest show, which, among other things, may discuss the controversy he briefly became involved in when he made a remark about apartheid on BBC Radio shortly after the death of Nelson Mandela.

News: C4's Last Leg To Tour?

The team behind hit Channel 4 chat show The Last Leg may play some live dates later this year. Josh Widdicombe has told me that there has been talk of them going on the road. Not necessarily to play theatres at this stage but maybe trying out the freewheeling, playful mix of sketches, songs and talk "in a festival tent."

Preview: The Week Ahead Oct 28 - Nov 4

There has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth recently about the decline of comedy clubs. In fact I've written about it myself. But two clubs open in London this week, bucking the trend, albeit with the aid of some top quality TV talent.

Preview: The Week Ahead Sept 30 - Oct 6

If there is one thing more frustrating than not being able to get a ticket for a rare sold-out Mighty Boosh gig it's two great causes clashing with each other. This Wednesday there are two top class charity gigs with unmissable line-ups - if you are only going to go to one comedy gig this week try to make it one of these.

Preview: The Week Ahead Sept 23 - 29

Some strong shows opening at the Soho Theatre this week.

Classic Interview: Josh Widdicombe

Update 17/1/14. Hello, welcome to this interview with Josh Widdicombe. You have probably come to this webpage by googling "Josh Widdicombe Girlfriend" like everybody else. Please note that this is a very interesting piece about the tousle-haired rising star, but it sheds no light on the identity of Josh's girlfriend. Or if he even has one. Sorry. BD. And just to clarify, Josh is not Celebrity Big Brother star Ann Widdecombe's son or grandson if that's how you ended up here.
