Following sell-out houses for outings in 2017 and 2018, triple-headline tour Lefty Scum – Josie Long, Jonny & The Baptists & Grace Petrie – has announced new dates for 2019.
Josie Long's Glasgow-shot debut feature film Super November is to be screened around the UK.
Long stars in the mumble core comedy meets socio-political drama as a romance obsessed librarian in Glasgow.
A comedy gala will take place on Monday 21 May in support of comedian Louise Reay at the Lyric Theatre in London. Comedians confirmed to perform include Aisling Bea, Sara Pascoe, Nish Kumar, Josh Widdicombe, David O'Doherty, Josie Long, Rachel Parris, Ed Gamble and Lolly Adefope, with more names to be announced in due course.
A screening in London has been confirmed for Josie Long's feature film debut, Super November.
It is at Rich Mix in East London on April 20 as part of the East End Film Festival.
The film, set in Glasgow and co-starring Scottish actor Sean Biggerstaff, has been described as a “mixture of mumblecore romantic comedy and Orwellian dystopia”. It is directed by Douglas King, who Long also worked with on the short films Let's Go Swimming and Romance and Adventure.
Comedians Jonny Donahoe and Josie Long are expecting their first child. Except that they weren’t expecting to have a child now, and they are totally clueless. If you’ve not had children and have no idea what it will be like, come and find out with them as they put on a special show about having a baby and parenthood..
The one-off gig will also include some special guests (to be announced soon) who are already comedians and parents.
Josie Long’s debut feature film as writer and lead actor is to have its first public screening at the Glasgow Film Festival.
The film, set in Glasgow and co-starring Scottish actor Sean Biggerstaff, is called Super November and has been described as a “mixture of mumblecore romantic comedy and Orwellian dystopia”. It is directed by Douglas King, who Long also worked with on the short film Let's Go Swimming and Romance and Adventure.
Comedian Josie Long has been turned into a superhero as part of a new exhibition.
Cosmic Superheroes is a photographic celebration of the superpowers it has taken for women at the forefront of the worlds of Arts and Science to establish themselves as superheroes in their individual fields.
Let’s hope Nigel Farage doesn’t watch Live from the BBC or he might spontaneously combust when he sees Josie Long’s set. For those that are convinced that the BBC is run by a secret cabal of card-carrying hardcore socialists Josie Long’s “lefty til I die” stance could be used as prima facie evidence. Never mind the Beeb showing Corbyn at Glastonbury, this is more licence payer’s money being spent on Bolshevik propaganda.
Comedy, music and revolutionary socialism unite in a triple-headline UK tour this autumn, with three of the UK's most joyfully rabble-rousing acts, Josie Long, Jonny & The Baptists & Grace Petrie, hitting the road as Lefty Scum.
Tickets are on sale now for shows across the country in Margate, London, Brighton & Hove, Leicester, Manchester, Newcastle, York, Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool.
Daniel Kitson, Mark Thomas, Josie Long, Jeremy Hardy, Imran Yusuf and Haydon Prowse are to play a fundraising gig in aid of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The one-off show will take place at Battersea Arts Centre next Monday, June 19. More acts are to be confirmed.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Grenfell Tower Appeal, coordinated by the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation.
