The Edinburgh Fringe would not be the Edinburgh Fringe without controversy. And the first cause célèbre this year is the appearance of Amanda Knox, who was convicted then acquitted of the murder of fellow student Meredith Kercher in Perugia in 2007. A petition has been set up protesting about Amanda Knox's forthcoming Edinburgh Fringe show Cartwheel.
Knox was convicted and later acquitted of murdering British student Meredith Kercher in Italy in 2007. She served four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted on appeal.
Ivory Coast-born Rudy Guede served 13 years of a 16-year sentence for Kercher's murder after his fingerprints were found at the scene.
