The decision to have David O’Doherty close the comedy tent on Saturday night was an interesting one. While he is well known to comedy fans and well loved too he certainly doesn’t have the TV profile of Sara Pascoe or Marcus Brigstocke. There was a definite thinning out in the arena before his set, but those that drifted away missed something special.
Marcus Brigstocke is probably the perfect Latitude comedian. completely in tune with the middle class audience’s dreams, aspirations and frustrations. It was no surprise to hear him say at the start of his set that he has been to every Latitude Festival. If Latitude had a face it would look like Brigstocke.
Trust me, that is Jon Richardson on the screen in the distance in this picture, even if he is looking unusually muscular. One of the perennial problems of the comedy tent at Latitude is that it is too bloody popular. By the time headliner Richardson came on you were lucky to get a view of him onscreen sitting outside the tent. On the plus side the sun was shining and the sound was crystal clear.
Jason Manford and Alan Davies have been announced as two of the main acts at this year’s 10th birthday Latitude Festival, which takes place at Henham Park in Suffolk from July 16 - 19.
The full music and arts line-up is announced tomorrow but some of the comedy names have been revealed today.
Latitude has announced that the 10th Birthday Edition of Latitude Festival will take place from Thursday 16thJuly – Sunday 19th July 2015, in Henham Park, Suffolk.

Commenting on what’s in store for the Latitude audience, Melvin Benn, Founder and Creator of Latitude says:
Having expected Simon Amstell to be the closing act on Saturday it felt like a bonus that Mark Watson ended proceedings in the Comedy Tent. Watson is a bit of a comedy legend, what with his erudite books – he has a new one out now, Hotel Alpha – and his epic marathon Edinburgh shows, but I hadn’t seen him for a while so I was looking forward to his set and it didn’t disappoint.
Let the sky be black with hats, Adam Buxton is bringing his acclaimed Kernel Panic show to the West End for two nights in April - 21 & 22 - at the Duchess Theatre.
Normally when I go to Latitude I plan my assault on the Festival with the precision of Montgomery planning El Alamein. Spreadsheets and marker pens have been involved. Frankly though this is easier than it sounds as it usually involves simply stocking up on provisions and plonking myself down in the comedy tent for the day and then catching a few bands in the evening and dipping into the Cabaret/Literature and Poetry tents.
