The Laugharne Weekend Festival, which was due to take place in South Wales at the end of March, has been postponed until October 2. News: Laugharne Weekend Festival Saved By Crowdfunding and Welsh Assembly

This year's Laugharne Weekend Festival will go ahead as planned. There was a risk that the future of the unique South Wales Festival was in jeopardy following the shock withdrawal of an annual £20,000 Arts Council grant, but a sucessful crowdfunding campaign and support from the Welsh Assembly has saved the day.

The UK’s quirkiest arts festival, running from 27 - 29 March, celebrates 13 years with leading artists, comedians, musicians, authors and poets.

Stewart Lee, John Hegley, Robin Ince, Mark Thomas and Susan Murray are among the comedians who will be doing a special fundraising show to help out The Laugharne Weekend.

News: Gofundme Page Set Up For Laugharne Festival After Arts Council Grant Slashed

A Gofundme Page has been set up to support the 2020 Laugharne Weekend Arts festival that takes place in Laugharne in south Wales from Friday, 27 March – Sunday, 29 March.

The annual festival unexpectedly lost its £20,000 grant due to the fact that tickets went on sale before the grant had been confirmed. There is no right of appeal although the cut does only apply to 2020 so the festival can re-apply for 2021.

Review: The Laugharne Weekend

The Laugharne Weekend is one of the arts/literary festival circuit’s best kept secrets and I hope it stays that way. The last thing this tiny South Wales town – pronounced "Larn" – needs is to be overrun. The intimacy - only around 500 all-access wristbands are sold – is one of its charms. And if one show is full the weekend is scheduled to ensure you can get into something equally artistically satisfying somewhere else.
