Maisie Adam
I had a bit of a minor panic when I was waiting for Maisie Adam. The Yorkshire-born, Brighton-based comic was one of the acts I had circled when I saw the line-up announced in the same way I used to circle the programmes I definitely wanted to see in the Christmas edition of the Radio Times.
New show Yesterday, Today and the Day Before offers a female take on world events, with the first episode featuring panellists Suzi Ruffell, Sophie Duker (pictured), Maisie Adam (pictured) and Steph McGovern. Labour Alumni Alistair Campbell also joins as a guest on the show.
It might be the ultimate accolade for some to appear in Viz's lookalikes section, but maybe it depends who they think you look like.
There used to be a bit of a joke in media circles that when the guests left a high brow BBC arts review programme they could all share the same taxi because they all lived a few streets from each other in fashionable Islington. This crossed my mind because two of the excellent comedians on the final edition of Mock The Week, Maisie Adam and Angela Barnes, are both based in Brighton.
At a time when weekdays and weekends are starting to blur into one for many, Thursday night feels like the start of the weekend for me because there are so many comedy programmes on TV and i personally used to think of Friday nights as comedy nights. The line-up of Mock The Week on BBC One at 9.30pm is particularly good tonight, with rising star of the moment Maisie Adam and Angela Barnes joining Milton Jones, Rhys James, Ed Gamble, Hugh Dennis and Dara O Briain.
Following its return last week with a 90-minute special, award-winning show The Last Leg returns to its normal one hour running time and normal kick-off time at 10pm on Channel 4 on Friday night.
Regular hosts Josh Widdicombe, Alex Brooker and Adam Hills will once again tickle the funny bone, tackle the hot potato issues of the day, ask #isitok and chat to their guests.
This week they are joined by two increasingly popular comedians Maisie Adam and Tom Davis.
Maisie Adam is to do the voiceover on major new ITV reality show The Cabins, which launches in January.
Adam tweeted the news: "Anyone who knows me knows I bloody LOVE a dating show, so I’m over the moon to be providing the voice in your ears for this brilliant show - I can’t wait for you all to see it!"
In the series singletons are challenged to the most revealing first date of their lives as they attempt to find true love.
Two risisng stars are lined up to make their debuts on the next two editions of Have I Got News For You.
Ivo Graham, who bagged a Dave's Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination for his show Game of Life this summer, will be one of the guests on the show on November 8 alongside Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.
The guest host on November 8 wll be Adil Ray and the other panellist will be journalist Helen Lewis.
Maisie Adam is one of stand-up comedy’s rising stars. The Yorkshire-born 25-year-old won the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny? competition at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017 and in 2018 won the Amused Moose National New Comic competition and was shortlisted for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer Award. Her second Edinburgh show, Hang Fire, received rave reviews in 2019 and she is now taking the show on her first major tour.
Following her Best Newcomer-nominated debut, the winner of Amused Moose National New Comic 2018 and So You Think You’re Funny? 2017 Maisie Adam is heading out on tour with her latest show Hang Fire that asks why we are so obsessed with blame? The tour starts on October 9 in Aberdeen and currently ends in Liverpool on February 5.
