BBC Reveals Major Edinburgh Coverage

A new BBC festival venue at Dynamic Earth, will, from the 7-20 August, play host to 14 days-worth of broadcasts in front of live audiences. Among the other highlights is Edinburgh International Festival Director Nicola Benedetti presenting a concert with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with its Chief Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth at the Usher Hall on August 6.

TV Panel Show Pilot For Mark Nelson

BBC Scotland is to broadcast a one-off pilot of The Good, The Bad And The Unexpected, hosted by Mark Nelson.

The show, in which comedians try to win points with their good, bad or unexpected stories and answers, has already been a hit on radio, where it was hosted first by Julia Sutherland from 2015 and then by award-winning stand-up Nelson from 2019.

The guests on the TV version will be Greg McHugh, Elaine C Smith and Len Pennie.

Comedian Mark Nelson is to host the BBC's 2021 Edinburgh Fringe Festival coverage with the three-part series “Edinburgh Unlocked”, on BBC Scotland on 19, 26 & 30th August.

The BBC has commissioned a new TV series starring comedian Mark Nelson. 

The Scottish stand-up will front the six-part series Bad Influencer, being made for BBC Scotland. In the show he will be joined for each episode by two guests from the comedy world to look through the funniest social media posts relating to a range of topics, "from family and friends to dogs and the Scottish diet."

News: Lucky Escape For Scottish Comic Mark Nelson

Comedian Mark Nelson had a narrow escape last night when his car caught fire while he was at the wheel.

Fortunately Nelson was on his own in the car at the time, so nobody was harmed, but he was understandably shaken up.

But as well as the damage to the car the boot was full of Christmas presents and his suit, all of which are now ruined.

News: Dave's Edinburgh Jokes Make Appearance On Pointless

A number of jokes told by comedians at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival have appeared on an edition of BBC quiz Pointless.

Scottish comedian Mark Nelson's gag that came fifth in Dave's Joke of the Fringe competition in 2015 was one of them:  "Jesus fed 5,000 people with two fishes and a loaf of bread. That's not a miracle. That's tapas." When Nelson found out about this he said on Facebook: "This might be the best thing that has ever happened to me. "
