History was made at the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards final this year. For the first time there were more women than men competing for the prestigious trophy at the Bloomsbury Theatre. A significant moment on a night when there was plenty of talent on display from all genders.
The 15th Musical Comedy Awards final has taken place at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London.
Twelve acts competed for the WeGotTickets Musical comedy Award in a show hosted by Nick Horseman and featuring a headline performance from Rachel Parris. There was also a performance from 2023 Musical Comedy Awards Best Newcomer, Jo Jo Maberly.
And the results are:
Christian Jegard was voted Audience Favourite.
The judges' decisions were as follows:
Annabel Marlow was third.
Christian Jegard was second.
The last WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards final was in October last year due to Covid but this year's prestigious final was back on schedule in the Spring. The fact that there was a quick turnaround certainly didn’t result in a shortage of new talent. If anything the 12 acts on this occasion showed that musical comedy is an increasing diverse, increasingly popular genre.

As we stagger back towards post-pandemic normality it was good to see the Musical Comedy Awards Final return to the Bloomsbury Theatre. A small socially distanced audience got to sit in the venue. while the rest of us, including the judges, could enjoy the experience online from the comfort of our sofas.
The annual Musical Comedy Awards has announced an extra mini-competition which people can enter online, Crooners Against Corona.
They are calling on all musical comics to share their take on the current situation and bring some hilarity to a nation of isolated comedy fans with an original Corona-related comedy song.
The finalists have been revealed for this year's WeGotTickets Musical comedy Awards final.
Eleven finalists who have progressed through a series of heats at the Phoenix in London will battle it out to win the musical comedy crown of this prestigious competition.
The final takes place at the Bloomsbury Theatre on April 13.
