The Pin
Comedy double act The Pin have been nominated for a Times Breakthrough Award as part of the South Bank Sky Arts Awards.
Ben Ashenden and Alex Owen have kept busy during lockdown with the online comedy sketches skewering Zoom and also had a show in the West End. The Comeback opened before Christmas but then had to close when further lockdown measures were introduced. It now reopens in July.
Comedy duo The Pin are to bring their acclaimed show The Comeback to London's West End.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern might well be dead, but The Pin are live and funny as ever at this year’s Fringe. In a tightly scripted hour, Alex Owen and Ben Ashenden bend the form of sketch comedy almost to breaking point in what feels more like a play than a series of sketches. As per the title, Backstage, the two comics use the space in Pleasance Two to build a classic comic farce. Think Michael Frayn meets Shakespeare, as the play-within-a-play conceit translates with ease to refresh the sketch show format.
Award-winning double act The Pin, Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen, will be returning to Radio 4 in July with a bigger show than ever.
Their first two series were broadcast as late night 15-minute comedies. For the upcoming series, The Pin have secured a new home in the schedule with half-hour instalments as part of Radio 4’s 6.30pm comedy slot. The new four-part series starts on Thursday 13th July.
