Former ‘Bake Off’ front woman and QI host Sandi Toksvig is thought to have claimed a very unique ‘world first’ after headlining a stand-up comedy gig from within a stream.
‘Stand-up for Our Streams’ was the milestone event in Affinity Water’s SOS: Save Our Streams campaign, through which the UK’s largest water-only supplier is urging the public to address water-wasting behaviours and work together to protect the UK’s precious chalk streams.
Sandi Toksvig returns to host a festive edition of QI based around the letter R, so let's all Rejoice!

Sandi is quitting to focus on other work projects, which include hosting the forthcoming Channel 4 series The Write Offs, which looks at the issue of adult literacy.
The Write Offs is an empowering and uplifting new two-part series hosted by Sandi Toksvig which will explore Britain’s staggeringly low adult literacy rates and offer a group of adults – aged from 22 to 66 years old – a lifechanging opportunity to overcome the one thing that has always held them back.
The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) has today announced Sandi Toksvig OBE as its new President with immediate effect.

Comedian Sandi Toksvig has revealed that she is paid less than half of Stephen Fry’s fee as the host of BBC show QI.

Female writers are still significantly in the minority in all areas of the arts according to a new report. Comedy is one of the main areas where they lack representation.
The report, entitled Gender Inequality and Screenwriters and commissioned by the Writers' Guild of Great Britain as part of their Equality Writes campaign, says that the percentage of television episodes written predominantly by women over 10 years is just 28%. This drops to 14% for prime-time, 11% for comedy and 9% for light entertainment.
