News: Steve Coogan Talks About Live Comedy Crisis

Steve Coogan has spoken about the crisis in live comedy as it remains one of the few activities that can still not go ahead despite lockdown restrictions being eased.

People can now go to the theatre in the open and presumably can attend any comedy gigs in the open air. There have already been a few stand-up gigs performed to small crowds al fresco.

TV Review: The Trip The Greece – Sky One, A Correction

I'm going to do a thing that I don't think I've ever seen a critic do before. I'm going to say that my review was wrong. When I reviewed the first episode of the latest series of The Trip, set in Turkey and Greece, I wrote how I was disappointed by it. Having watched the first episode I felt that the tone had changed.

TV Review: The Trip to Greece With Steve Coogan And Rob Brydon, Sky One

It's the fourth series of The Trip and this time Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan have gone all Greek on us, retracing the footsteps of Homer's Odyssey, albeit with better cuisine.

I was really looking forward to this series, once again directed by Michael Winterbottom and also starring Claire Keelan as their long-suffering fixer, and the opening scene has a couple of excellent jokes about Brydon's dislike of camping. The portents seem good, but somehow this early exchange is the high point of the scene-setting episode.

Film Review: Stan And Ollie

Steve Coogan has just picked up a BAFTA nomination for his performance as Stan Laurel in this new movie, which seems a bit harsh on his co-star John C Reilly, who plays Oliver Hardy. But then maybe that's the nature of double acts and something reflected in this touching, funny film. When two very different talents work together as a team how do you keep things equal and on an even footing?
