Stuart Goldsmith
As Stuart Goldsmith explains at the start of his latest show, he has done a bit of a handbrake turn this year and is doing a political show. Or to be more precise, a show about climate change. The world is doomed if we don't do something fast. It might even be doomed if we do. Goldsmith is doing his bit by doing a comedy show.
Comedians Stuart Goldsmith and Sindhu Vee are to launch a new podcast about parenting, entitled Child Labour.
As well as both being professional comedians, Stuart Goldsmith and Sindhu Vee have two other big things in common: they a) are both parents and b) have no idea how to be parents. But hey, does anyone?
Comedian Stuart Goldsmith, best known for his acclaimed Comedian's Comedian podcast, is launching a new online chat show. The Infinite Sofa has an all-star schedule of guests lined up and will also include members of the public on the virtual sofa.
Stand-ups already set to appear include Romesh Ranganthan, Sarah Millican, Russell Howard, Shappi Khorsandi and James Acaster.
Stand-up comedian Stuart Goldsmith and YouTube comedy channel Dead Parrot have partnered up to launch his hour special as digital first commission.
Some of the line-up has been revealed for this summer's return of The Wrestling at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The show - which won the Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize in 2011 – takes place this year at the Pleasance Grand at 11pm on August 15 and features a host of comedians taking on real wrestlers in the ring for one night only.
Among those taking part this year are James Acaster, Stuart Goldsmith, Joel Dommett, Lolly Adefope and Richard Gadd, with many more to be announced.
Stuart Goldsmith is arguably better known for interviewing stand-ups than being a stand-up. His Comedian’s Comedian podcast has become essential listening for anyone remotely interested in how a comedian’s mind works. His latest episode, with Jeremy Hardy, is well worth a listen as Hardy talks about his early days on the circuit and confesses to fiddling his benefits.
Stuart Goldsmith has been awarded the prize for Best New Show, The Elvis Dead won Best Show and the late Victoria Wood was given a Legend of Comedy Award at the Leicester Comedy Festival's annual award ceremony hosted by Mrs Barbara Nice.
The Legend of Comedy award is voted for annually by members of the public. Past legends have included Barry Cryer, Rik Mayall, Ken Dodd and Sir Norman Wisdom.
Marketing teams take note. It was interesting to discover how Stuart Goldsmith sold most tickets for his show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival. Not through PR. Not through advertising. Through his podcast. A mention of his excellent Comedian's Comedian interview series (200 guests and counting) got hands shooting up into the air as if he was giving away free shortbread.
