Philosophy seems to be a suitable subject for comedy at the moment. Ethical issues have been one of the strands of the brilliant Netflix series The Good Place and now here comes Robert Newman with his latest excellently titled show, Total Eclipse of Descartes.
Notebooks and pens out, Robert Newman has a new show. The one-time rock and roll stand-up has always been a bit of a clever clogs and in recent years he has taken his comedy in a distinctly professorial direction. His last show, in which he bashed Richard Dawkins and proposed his own theory of evolution made Robin Ince look like Roy Chubby Brown.

When Rob Newman decided he wanted to be seen as a more mature comedian he started being billed as Robert Newman. But it is probably Newman's material more than his monicker that has cast him in a new light.
Suddenly after the summer slumber in London the next seven days feel like a properly exciting week for going out to comedy.
