I've done flying visits to Latitude before but never quite as flying as this. A combination of knackered car and daughter having first dibs on tent meant cadging a lift with a friend and a day trip.
The Latitude Festival returns to Henham Park in Suffolk from July 25th to 28th, 2024. Headliners Duran Duran, Kasabian, Keane, London Grammar, and Sara Pascoe, Jo Brand, Judi Love and Joanne McNally spearhead an eclectic lineup that fuses music with the arts. Latitude has announced its massive comedy bill. Jo Brand, Judi Love and Joanne McNally (pictured) join previously announced Sara Pascoe as headliners alongside Lucy Beamont, Grace Campbell, Laura Smyth, Mark Simmons, Sarah Keyworth, Sophie Duker, The Comedy Store and The Horne Section.

I arrived at Latitude's comedy tent just as Ed Byrne was hitting his stride. At least I think it was Ed Byrne, the tent was way too rammed for me to be able to see the stage (hence no pictures), although I could just about get a glimpse of the live action on the screens on each side. Byrne was bemoaning s critic in Australia who had recently given him a five star review, marred only by describing Byrne as spritely - a word he associates with wrinkly senior citizens, not someone barely fifty and still with a full head of brown hair.

It always makes me laugh when people say they don't like comedians because they talk about themselves. Let's face it, most comedians are, in some form or another, narcissists. They are often their own favourite subject. And the apotheosis of stand-up narcissists (in a good way) is Simon Amstell, who was at Latitude giving the audience a taster of his new show Spirit Hole.
