News: 2NORTHDOWN LAUNCHES NEW ACT COMPETITION FOR 2021

2Northdown has launched its third New Act Competition, kicking off in January 2021. Leo Reich won last year. Other 2020 finalists included runner up Erika Ehler, Bella Hull, William Stone and Pope Lonergan. The competition is open to all types of comedy, with sketch, character and alternative acts encouraged to apply.

News: Brexiteers Put The Boot Into Have I Got News For You

Brexit supporters and others have criticised Have I Got News For You after the BBC programme posted a tweet about its future.

Noting that September 28 was the thirtieth anniversary of the first show's airing, the HIGNFY account tweeted: "So that’s 30 years then, but if Paul Dacre and Charles Moore take those jobs we’re unlikely to see another five, and nor is the BBC."

News: Channel 4 To Launch New Comedy Awards

Channel 4 will celebrate the stars of UK comedy with a glorious viewer-voted awards show set to air in 2021 in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.  

The awards will bring the year’s best-loved comedy stars together for a night that celebrates the brilliant work of the comedy world, and all for a good cause. The coveted trophies will be awarded to the winners during the spectacular star-studded red-carpet event which is to be broadcast on Channel 4.

RBM Comedy is proud to present Edfringe: Comedy In The Meantime, beaming a mini-festival of live-streamed comedy that would have been at this year’s Edinburgh Festival straight into your lounge/bedroom/garden/garage.

A sort of literary Desert Island Discs where all the guests are comedians or comedy writers.

ITV has announced Nana Hughes as the newly appointed Head of Scripted Comedy.

Reporting into Head of Drama, Polly Hill, Nana will be responsible for driving and developing scripted comedy content and will also support developing scripted comedy drama content.
