Richard Ayoade returns to guide more celebrity adventurers on an epic quest through the four fantastical zones of The Crystal Maze - Aztec, Industrial, Futuristic and Eastern - in a brand new series.
Within the zones, the teams face a host of Skill, Physical, Mystery and Mental challenges in a bid to win precious crystals, which they will exchange for time in the legendary Crystal Dome.
The Crystal Maze will return in 2019 with all new celebrity episodes and an all new zone: The Eastern Zone. Influenced by the historic art, architecture and monuments of East Asia, the zone will feature five games rooms for eight new games, set around a lily pond, cherry blossom trees and ornate vases. The new zone will join the Futuristic, Aztec and Industrial Zones, with all four featuring a host of challenging new puzzles in the forthcoming series.
The Crystal Maze returns next month with all-new celebrity specials. Richard Ayoade will guide a glittering array of famous faces through the Aztec, Medieval, Futuristic and Industrial Zones as they take on 30 brand new games in the hope of collecting all-important crystals. The teams will then swap their crystals for time inside the iconic Crystal Dome.
Channel 4 has commissioned 12 all-new episodes of The Crystal Maze. Richard Ayoade will once again guide the intrepid explorers through four challenging zones as they collect crystals to exchange for time in the iconic Crystal Dome.
Adam Buxton and Jessica Hynes have lent their comedic talents to the new series of The Crystal Maze. They will make cameo appearances in the legendary adventure gameshow, which is back on Channel 4 later this month, hosted by Richard Ayoade.
The series sees teams of five contestants navigate the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic zones before facing the fans in the iconic Crystal Dome. On their journey through the maze, our adventurers will encounter fiendish challenges and some interesting surprises.
Channel 4 has confirmed the commission of a brand new series of The Crystal Maze from Fizz, RDF Television’s entertainment label. The 20-part series will be hosted by new Maze Master Richard Ayoade, and includes a set of celebrity specials for Stand Up to Cancer.
Filming has now started on the special celebrity edition of The Crystal Maze being made for C4's Stand Up To Cancer season.
New host Stephen Merchant is pictured here on the set with contestants Josh Widdicombe, Rio Ferdinand, Michelle Keegan, Jonnie Peacock and Sara Cox. His shaved head might look like a homage to previous host Richard O'Brien, but he actually shaved it for his forthcoming role in Wolverine 3.
