It’s the first night of the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival and Fern Brady is making the spacious Concert Hall – the largest of the three Brighton Dome venues filled to the gills with comedy tonight – feel as intimate as the teenage car you drove around in with your mates, overflowing with joie de vivre and perfect inappropriate sharing.
Comedian Fern Brady was one of the winners at last night's Sky Arts Awards ceremony hosted by Joe Lycett. Brady won the award for comedy.
The other winners at the Roundhouse included band The Last Dinner Party and Mr Bates Vs The Post Office.
The statuettes given to the winners were designed by artist and comedian Jim Moir, better known as Vic Reeves.

Brighton Dome, the south coast’s premier multi-arts venue, has announced it will launch a brand-new annual Comedy Festival from 24 to 27 October 2024. Bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting new talent alongside comic superstars, a diverse line up will feature traditional stand up performances alongside improv, storytelling and art installations, plus events and workshops for participants of all ages.
Fern Brady is releasing her latest show ‘Autistic Bikini Queen’ as a Netflix Original Comedy Special on the 22nd April 2024. Filmed in Bristol, the special features Brady’s last tour show, which had sell-out runs across the UK, Ireland and Australia. Produced by IAM and distributed by Netflix, the special will be available for global release on Netflix.
The first batch of shows that will be staged at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe have been revealed. All shows are available to view on edfringe.com.
The 276 shows span many genres of the Fringe programme, including cabaret and variety; children’s shows; comedy; dance, physical theatre and circus; music; musicals and opera; spoken word; and theatre. They will take place across 31 venues, with more shows to be revealed in the run-up to August.
