Food
Restaurant reviews tend to be accompanied by exquisitely framed photographs of grub, so gracefully shot that the food might as well as be an exhibit in an art gallery. We do things differently at beyond the joke. A bit more punk rock if you like. The picture on this page comes from a recent meal at Sharkbait & Swim in Deptford and was taken during a brief pause between mashing up the food on our plates (well me, on my plate, my partner is way more refined) and filling our faces.
Something of a change from the usual comedy nonsense here. Beyond The Joke has branched out into restaurant reviews. Not any old reviews though. I've reached an age where I tend to go to the same restaurants and order the same food. Sweet and sour pork. Pad Thai. Steak frites if I'm feeling flush. And even when I go to new restaurants I still look for my old faithfuls.
As before, five famous faces meet at a restaurant and reluctantly surrender their credit cards. They play a series of funny and revealing games with the loser of the games having to pick up the bill for everyone, making it an expensive night for one of the celebrities.
