After performing no fewer than 160 shows on his last circuit of the country, Gary Delaney might be expected to take a bit of a breather now. But he has spent the lockdown period burrowing through the looking-glass and emerging with his laatest show. Welcome to ‘Gary In Punderland’.
After performing no fewer than 160 shows on his last circuit of the country, Gary Delaney might be expected to take a bit of a breather now. But he has spent the lockdown period burrowing through the looking-glass and emerging with a brand show. Welcome to ‘Gary In Punderland’.

I didn’t even know that Mock The Week was back last night. Or even that it had gone away. I must be watching too many reruns on Dave. But according to the BBC this was the first episode of the fifteenth, yes fifteenth, series, helmed, as ever by smiling Dara O Briain.
Stand-up maestro Gary Delaney has added new dates to his 2016 tour due to exceptional demand. There are now 40 extra chances to catch There's Something About Gary.
Delaney says: “I was looking forward to sitting in my pants and watching zombie films, but it would appear people want me to continue travelling around telling jokes. Damn you, damn you all! By which I mean Thanks very much, very flattered, please come to the show. Your town is definitely my favourite.”
There has been a resurgence of the well-crafted one-liner recently. There is even a UK Pun Championship Final at the Leicester Comedy Festival. If Gary Delaney entered he’d be a hot favourite. He has been doing short, sharp gags since long before they were fashionable. Sometimes the Mock The Week regular's quips are childish, sometimes they are dark. The only thing his gags have in common is that they are always funny. Chortle has called him “the Picasso of Puns”, which sounds good, though I’m not sure what it means.
King of the one-liners Gary Delaney is recording his current show Purist for download/CD release at The Stockton Arc this Friday, November 21. The gig is already sold out, but you can be involved in it by helping Delaney choose what jokes to tell on the night. He is inviting fans to tweet him their favourite gags to include in the show. To have your say click here. Obviously the gags must be by Delaney...
Stand-up comedian Gary Delaney has extended the 2014 UK tour of his latest show Purist, adding further dates this autumn.
The master of the pithy one-line gag is a regular on BBC2’s Mock The Week and BBC 5 Live’s 7 Day Saturday. He is also a double Sony Award Winner and Chortle Award Nominee.
Delaney says that most shows don’t contain enough jokes and he is trying singlehandedly to redress the balance.
