Gilded Balloon have today added over 65 shows for 2024’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe line-up including Mhairi Black’s first ever Fringe show, a triumphant return for Michelle Brasier and social media sensation Christopher Hall. They form an expertly-curated programme of comedy, theatre, children’s shows, magic and more  as the Fringe’s original home of comedy returns in 2024.

It’s time to paint the town pink once more as Gilded Balloon today announce the first shows for 2024’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme. This year, Gilded Balloon, the Fringe’s original home of comedy, will welcome audiences to two dynamic and well-loved venue hubs throughout August: Patter House and the National Museum of Scotland. World-class comedy, theatre, magic and more will delight Fringe fans galore, for a summer of non-stop entertainment in Edinburgh’s city centre.


So You Think You're Funny? Final – Full Results

The winner of the 36th edition of the iconic So You Think You’re Funny? - the UK’s most prestigious comedy newcomer competition – has been announced. Samira Banks is this year's winner.

Chris Donovan and Lizzie Norm came second and third place respectively, with each performer ensuring fans at the final enjoyed an evening of laughter following over 400 initial applicants for the competition.

After months of regional showcases and competitions heats at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a panel of judges conferred to decide on a 10-strong finalist line-up, for the first time in years. 


Gilded Balloon Launches Edinburgh Fringe ‘Support the Artist’ Scheme,

Fringe venue Gilded Balloon has announced a new ‘Support the Artist’ scheme, introduced for 2023. Designed to extend the support offered to performers faced with growing costs at the Festival, Gilded Balloon’s Support the Artist initiative will allow customers to add an additional £2 to each ticket, going directly to the artist.

Fans of ITV’s The Chase (and let’s face it…who isn’t?) won’t want to miss Jenny Ryan, otherwise known as The Vixen, as she premieres Out of the Box, an evening of song, storytelling and showbiz secrets.

So You Think You're Funny Final 2021, Gilded Balloon

First up, total respect to the Gilded Balloon for putting on a real live So You Think You're Funny final in the final week of the strangest, quietest, most chilled out, Edinburgh Fringe I've ever attended.

And secondly, total respect to the ten finalists. Over 450 acts entered and this time heats had to take place via Zoom. So when it came to stepping onto the stage after MC Mark Watson's warm introductions they were doing it with minimal stage time under their belts.


So You Think You're Funny? Returns With Online Competition

Gilded Balloon has brought back the UK’s longest running comedy newcomer competition back for its 33rd year. After a one-year hiatus, So You Think You’re Funny? will take place online for the first time in its history. With around 30 regional heats taking place across the country and in partnership with some of the best UK comedy venues, tickets are available now to support some of the newest comics all hosted by some of the competition’s incredible regular hosts.
