jack whitehall
Jack Whitehall has become embroiled in a dispute with Sylvester Stallone over an alleged encounter after the Oscars in Los Angeles earlier this year.
Jack Whitehall has confirmed that the movie version of his hit BBC3 sitcom Bad Education is going itno production. At lunchtime today Whitehall tweeted "Very excited to announce that we are making a Bad Education Movie. and the gang are hitting Cornwall!".
The announcement was accompanied by the picture here showing the original cast sunning themselves in wintry Cornwall, where the film is going to be set.
The last time I saw Jack Whitehall onstage it was at a packed Wembley Arena and the audience was so young it almost felt like a pop concert. This was very different. It was in the classy Cadogan Hall in Chelsea and most of the audience looked well-heeled, well into their twenties at least and probably hadn’t come from much further than nearby Barnes, where Whitehall himself grew up.
1. Cradle to Grave, BBC2
Motormouth Danny Baker’s autobiography gets the sitcom treatment. Baker is a co-writer himself so expect lots of strange-but-true tales of growing up poor but ‘appy in sarf London.
2. Together, BBC3
Jonny Sweet, last seen in C4’s cop satire Babylon, stars in this self-penned adaptation of his cult Radio 4 series in which a new romantic relationship is explored and dissected from all angles.
Jack Whitehall has called his first arena tour Jack Whitehall Gets Around, and he certainly went to plenty of places during his breathlessly busy Wembley Arena set, now captured on DVD.
A transmission date has been confirmed for the second series of Brian Pern: A Life in Rock. The new series will start on BBC2 on December 9.
Alan Carr, Davina McCall and Dr Christian Jessen are back to host this year's live broadcast of Stand Up To Cancer on C4 on October 21. The night will include special programmes, including: Gogglebox: Celebrity Special; Jamie Oliver and Taylor Swift joining forces for an exclusive sketch; A very special performance from Nicole Scherzinger who is joined by The SU2C Childrens Choir who have all survived cancer; and Sherlock stars and husband and wife team Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington have their minds blown by Derren Brown.
Schooldays are the happiest days of your life? Well, there are plenty of belly laughs in the BBC3 classroom with the third series of Bad Education. It’s the new term and the kids have come down with a serious dose of puberty over the holidays. Jing has turned into a Camus-quoting existentialist, regular fall-guy Joe has gone vegan while Rem Dogg has gone full emo about five years too late.
There has been a bit of a kerfuffle over the announcement that Jack Whitehall is to play a big work-in-progress gig at the Hammersmith Apollo in February in the the run-up to his UK tour. I can't see what all the fuss is about. Tickets will only be £20 whereas when he comes to Wembley Arena in March tickets, including booking fee, will be £32.25.
It can't be long now before either BBC3 or Channel 4 comes up with a themed Jack Whitehall night. Maybe they are merely waiting until he gets his knighthood for services to our TV schedules. 2013 has pretty much been his year, with two hit series under his belt (three if you include the fun-if-throwaway Backchat) and last week a King of Comedy gong at the British Comedy Awards to crown it all.
